Thing #23

I am finally finished with 2.0. It was a new experience. It opened my eyes to a lot new ways the enternet is beig used. It was a fun blogging and tagging. My favorite discovery was Youtube. It was fun watching all the funny video clips. If there was another discovery program like this one I would choose to participate.

I visited sjlibrary's ebooks and the Gutenberg Project, they have many ebooks online. There are 20,000 free books in the project Gutenberg Online Book Catalog. It was fun exploring the site.

I edited the wiki and added my blog to the Favorite Blogs page. I hope I did right.

I took a look at podcast.net and yahoo podcast and there is a podcast from sunnyvale public library that showed a mother goose storytime for pre-walkers. It was interesting.

I explored YouTube and found one video clip that I liked and it is called Extreme break dancing. MY sons and I really like this site. At our library we find that our patrons visit this site a lot. Youtube is very popular.

I created an account to Library Thing. I added 5 books to my library. It was easy to add books but I don't know if I linked my blog to my library thing catalog. I don't know if it went through. My books were very popular.

I created a ZOHO Writer account. I explored the site but I did not know how to create a test document. I tried but I don't know if it went through.

Library wikis give you a lot of information and helpful tips. They have many links to pages of interest. They also give FAQ: a list of frequently asked questions about their library wikis. Within libraries the application of programs and events will work well with a wiki.

The perspective : Away from icebergs is that no profession can survive if it throws its principles and values overboard. It can be disastrous if a profession fails to acknowledge and adapt to radical and fundamental changes in the market place it serves.

The perspective: To a temporary place in time is about libraries of the future. As the world changes, our libraries need to adapt in order to be on top of things.

Youtube is one of the top searches in Technorati. It was fun looking at all the funny video clips. Tagging are easy to use. The advantages in tagging are that servers have many tags in a page that allows the reader to locate quickly all pages which have been associated to any subject.

Del.icio.us is very useful. It allows you to bookmark a web page and add tags to categorize your bookmarks. You could also access your bookmark from anywhere.

Creating an account for myself was confusing, I was not able to link my blog to my search roll.

I played with some of the image generators and the one that I liked was Image Chef. There you could create your own custom images in seconds and send them to your friends.

One of the feeds I liked was feedster. It was easy to use and had lots of info.. It gives you everything from News to podcasts.

Technology advancements are great, what I like are digital cameras. You could take pictures and save them on your computer. You could also print them from home.

I explored some of the fun flickr mashups and 3rd party tools and the one that I enjoyed was the montagr. Where you create a photo mosaics from photos found on flickr.

I picked frappr.com from the web 2.0 Award Winners. It is fun because it puts my group on the map and creates a map to pinpoint my location and all of my friends.

I created a newsreader and started adding newfeeds that interested me like: San Jose Mercury News Feeds.
